UPCOMING MEETING: TUESDAY, OCT. 20, 2026
The Nashville Civil War Roundtable will hold its 183rd meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Longview Historic Mansion in Nashville. The program, “Leafy Lot and the Battle of Nashville,” will be presented by Howard Mann, president of the Nashville Civil War Roundtable. Please note location change from last meeting!
Mann will examine the history of Leafy Lot, the property now associated with Longview Mansion, during the Battle of Nashville. His presentation will explore the devastation suffered by the Norvell property at the hands of Confederate troops and compare it with the destruction of the Tyne house by Union forces. The program offers an opportunity to consider how the battle affected local families, homes, and landscapes, extending the story beyond troop movements and military strategy to the experiences of civilians caught in the conflict.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Longview Historic Mansion, 811 Caldwell Lane, Nashville, Tennessee 37204. Parking is available by the mansion. Meetings of the Nashville Civil War Roundtable are open to the public, and visitors are welcome.

UPCOMING MEETING: TUESDAY, SEPT. 15, 2026
Join us Tuesday, September 15, for the 182nd meeting of the Nashville Civil War Roundtable, featuring BONT Executive Director Bobby Whitson and his presentation, “From the Blockhouses to the Cedars.” Note the change in venue: the September meeting will take place at Longview Historic Mansion in Nashville. Whitson will trace the fighting along the railroad from Nashville to Murfreesboro, following the series of engagements that took place from December 2 through the Battle of the Cedars on December 7, 1864.

UPCOMING MEETING: TUESDAY, AUG. 18, 2026
The Nashville Civil War Roundtable’s August 18 program will feature Brandon Hulette, Vice President of the Battle of Nashville Trust and Vanderbilt University professor, presenting “What Lies Beneath: The Battle of Nashville.” The meeting will take place at the Belle Meade Historic Site and Winery at 5025 Harding Pike, with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. followed by the program at 7:00 p.m.
Hulette will discuss a study tracking physical remnants of the Battle of Nashville and Hood’s final campaign, with particular attention to issues facing Middle Tennessee preservationists seeking to protect battlefield sites within an increasingly urban landscape. The presentation will explore new scientific methods and technologies that allow historians to investigate and better understand what remains beneath America’s historic battlefields.
